A NOTE FROM OUR
ARTISTIC DIRECTOR
After two years of rebuilding, Acts of Matter is back for SEASON 13 with THREE exciting performances in 2027. I CANNOT WAIT to be back in the studio with these incredible artists.
I am ecstatic to be working with five incredible artists on new work for this season: Arletta Anderson, Tori Cone, Marlie Couto, Sammy Macias, Riv Villanueva. Check out the link above for all the details on SEASON 13.
We are fundraising for this season, just as I continue to rebuild my home in Altadena. Your support in either endeavor is greatly appreciated.
FOR BACKGROUND
In January 2025, I suffered the devastating loss of my home during the Eaton Fire. The above photo was taken in my yard just a few months prior as part of our SEASON 10 celebration, Fête10. It is one of the last gatherings held at my home before it was completely destroyed.
Thank you so much to everyone who has shown support in so many ways. The love I have received during this time has far outweighed any material loss. I love you all.
This has been a long road, and the cost of rebuilding my home far exceeds what is covered by insurance.
I hope to be home before the end of the year, but the expenses continue to complete the home, purchase furnishings, fence in the yard for Kit, and plant some beautiful plants to bring nature back to the yard. SO, that donation link is still active for anyone who would like to contribute. I have been so humbled by everyone’s support these last two years.
Thank you for everything,
Becca
I believe now more than ever in the power of art. of movement. of creative collaboration. of the community we build through these endeavors.
The company's name acknowledges the inherent capacity of the body, of matter, to express deep truths of our lived experience, truths that matter deeply to our collective humanity.
Our mission is rooted in the knowledge that we are better together. Our creative work focuses on collaborative process and our workshops and training programs are centered in community learning and collective understanding.
Running a small dance company is a huge undertaking. Financial contributions support everyone who is a part of our creative and educational processes, including creative scholarship and work study opportunities for young artists. Thank you for considering supporting us this season.
